Private Delphi Day Tour from Athens
The centre of the ancient world, with lunch in Arachova.
A private full-day tour from Athens to Delphi, the UNESCO-listed sanctuary of Apollo, about 2.5 hours (180 km) from the capital. Walk the Sacred Way, see the Charioteer in the museum and lunch in Arachova. From £520 per group of up to four.
Delphi was the most consulted oracle in the ancient Greek world, and its setting, on a steep slope above a valley of olive trees, explains why. The sanctuary was dedicated to Apollo and the priestess, the Pythia, gave answers that shaped wars and colonies.
Your guide walks the Sacred Way with you, from the treasuries up to the temple, the theatre and the stadium, then to the museum for the Charioteer of Delphi, a bronze from about 470 BC.
